About the Author – Maresko Tranek

Hi, I’m Maresko Tranek – the person behind a lot of the words you read on actd.africa.

If I had to sum up what I do in one line, it would be this:

I help African players understand online gambling in clear, honest language – without false promises or complicated jargon.

I don’t run a casino.
I don’t sell tips, fixed matches, or magic betting systems.

My job is to explain how things really work so you can decide for yourself whether to play, where to play, and how far to go.

Who I am and why I write about gambling

I’m an iGaming writer and analyst with several years of experience following casino brands, payment systems, sports betting sites and player communities across Africa.

Over time I’ve seen the same pattern:

  • glossy banners and huge bonuses on the surface,
  • but important details hidden in the fine print,
  • and players left to figure out the hard lessons on their own.

I grew up around people who love football, lottery tickets, small bets with friends – all the little ways risk and hope show up in everyday life. So when online gambling started spreading quickly on the continent, it was natural for me to start asking:

  • Who is behind these sites?
  • How do payouts really work?
  • What happens when an African player has a problem?

Those questions are the reason actd.africa exists – and the reason I keep writing.

My role at actd.africa

On actd.africa, I focus on three main things:

1. Brand and casino reviews

I review:

  • online casinos and hybrid casino + sportsbook brands,
  • their games, bonuses, payment methods and support,
  • and, most importantly, how they treat African players.

When I look at a brand, I don’t just ask “Is it fun?” – I ask:

  • How easy is it to deposit and withdraw from African countries?
  • Are the terms written clearly, or are they trying to trick you?
  • What happens when something goes wrong?

If I wouldn’t be comfortable recommending a site to a friend or a family member, I say so clearly.

2. Guides and how-tos

I write practical guides that answer questions players actually ask, like:

  • “How do I verify my account?”
  • “What does 35x wagering really mean for my budget?”
  • “Which payment methods make sense if I’m using mobile money?”
  • “How small can I start, and when should I stop?”

I try to translate the “legal casino language” into normal speech you don’t need a lawyer to understand.

3. Responsible gambling content

Gambling is not just numbers and odds. It’s also emotions, pressure, and sometimes pain.

That’s why I also write about:

  • how to set limits,
  • how to spot when gambling stops being fun,
  • how to protect yourself and the people around you.

For me, a reader who decides not to play after understanding the risks is just as valuable as a reader who finds a better, safer site.

How I work (and what I refuse to do)

Every article I sign on actd.africa follows a few simple rules:

  • Clarity over hype
If something is risky, I say it’s risky. If a bonus is hard to clear, I say it’s hard to clear.
  • No fake “gurus”
I don’t sell guarantees, fixed odds or secret strategies. You’ll never see me promise you easy money.
  • Player first, not brand first
Partnerships may exist, but my responsibility is to the person reading, not to the casino being reviewed.

When I analyse a brand, I look at:

  • licence and basic safety,
  • payment options and limits for African players,
  • bonus conditions and hidden restrictions,
  • real user experience on mobile and desktop,
  • and patterns in how the brand behaves over time.

If a casino improves, I’m happy to update my opinion.
If a casino starts doing things that hurt players, I’ll write about that too.

My view on online gambling in Africa

Online gambling in Africa is growing fast:

  • more smartphones,
  • more betting apps,
  • more casino sites marketed to “anyone with data”.

That growth brings opportunities – entertainment, choice, competition.
It also brings problems – addiction, scams, unfair terms, weak regulation.

In all my texts on actd.africa, you’ll see a few messages again and again:

  • Only gamble with money you can afford to lose.
  • Gambling is entertainment, not a salary or a rescue plan.
  • If you need gambling to fix your life, it will probably break it instead.
  • If you start lying, hiding or chasing losses, it’s time to step away.

I don’t write to push people into playing.
I write so that if they do decide to play, they can do it with open eyes.

How to use my articles

If you want to get the most out of my work on actd.africa, here’s my simple advice:

  • Use reviews as tools, not orders
I’ll tell you what I see, but you make the final choice.
  • Read the “downsides” carefully
That’s where the real decision often happens: do these risks make sense for me?
  • Check dates and terms
Casinos change their rules. I do my best to keep up, but always double-check key points on the site itself.
  • Don’t rush
If a bonus or site looks too good to be true, pause. Read first, deposit later – or not at all.
